Patrick Ian Hartley

Guest speaker of the week was Patrick Ian Hartley who has no label. Call him whatever you wish, designer, artist, either way his creations are extraordinary. First impressions was bondage, S&M, Whips and Chains. After hearing the concept behind the project I realised it was something completely different!
The body is enhanced by corsets to get the perfect hour glass figure, so instead of medical procedures to enhance the face, why not wear something on your face which acts like a corset. Here is the first piece Hartley had ever made. Baring in mind he had never even used a sewing machine before this piece is beautifully crafted.

NOT FOR NAIL BITERS!!

BLACK IS BACK!!!! And I'm wearing it on my nails. Im not a Goth or A emotional train wreck but it's the perfect way to add depth, egde and contrast to any S/S outfit! Top tip- Nail Gnawers, be warned, you will up with black bits in your teeth if you continue the nasty habit! Lets hope you have friends as nice as mine to tell you that your mouth is full of black crap! I have found Topshop's black nail varnish 'Dagger' is fabulous! Reasonably priced, only needs one coat and dries fairly quick!!!! Perfect!!!

Hello Tillie!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
I have fallen head over heels in love with the new Tillie bag at Mulberry! She's a beauty!!! Being a tan satchel this makes her an investment, she will never date and will always be valued as a classic bag! As I am coming up for the grand age of 21 in april if anyone would like to give me a gift this would be the perfect piece, and I would be eternally grateful! Thank you!

New bestfriends make me bust out the prints!

So I am half way through my current project for Crumpet England, and I must say, it's going well! I feel like I have jumped on a steam train of inspiration and its traveling faster than ever!

I have found myself two new bestfriends and they go by the name's 'Photoshop' and 'Illustrator'. It is sooooo simple once you get the hang of it! Now I have popped open my pringle pot and just cant stop busting out the prints!
This print was inspired by a cherry blossom flower, crumpets S/S colection, and Tord Boonjte installations! There are many different colour ways but this is one of my favourites. The different sized layers are really effective and I think the proportion of colours is what makes the print work so well! Would look stunning on a simple cardy! But this is just the beginning of my train journey who knows where it will all take me! You will have to wait and see!

I have recently started a new project for a inspriational company called Crumpet England who focus their beautiful collections completely on creating a new profile for cashmere. I have begun to look for inspiration that I think will be relevant and help me create new exquisite designs which will go towards the spring summer collection for 2013, if I win! hehehe! Wishful thinking!

Anyway here is a little preview of my inspiration which is a starting point for print ideas!
This is a installation which was designed and created by Tord Boontje who has created a number of various piece like this floral piece. His inspiration comes mostly from florals and other nature sources but his understanding and use of colour sets the ambience and helps you to capture the theme of the installation.
I am enchanted by his simple floral shapes and have been inspired to capture this within my designs.
Love love love Tord Boontje the book! Shows most of his recent work and the explaination behind it! Check it out!!!!!
